Steve Hawkins is Scotiabank’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Senior Vice President at Global Technology Services (GTS). In his role as CISO he has enterprise-wide responsibility for developing a global information security strategy. Steve leads a team of over 450 information security professionals protecting over $900 billion in assets and associated information for 23 million customers across 55 countries. In his role as the Senior Vice President of GTS he is responsible for IT operations worldwide, supporting over 88,000 employees, 4,000 branches, and 11,600 ABMs.
Steve is passionate about information security matters, as this area is critical to the ongoing success of Scotiabank, the Canadian Financial Industry, and Canada. In early 2000, he was a founding member of the CFI-CIRT (Canadian Financial Industry – Computer Incident Response Team) committee at the Canadian Banker’s Association. In his roles at the Bank, Steve has dealt extensively with OSFI and various other regulators around the world.
Steve majored in Finance graduating from McMaster University’s Commerce Program summa cum laude, and has also attended the Queen’s Executive Program.
